Baccalaureate / BSN Round Table

Senator Rodney Ellis (author of SB414 which called for the study completed by RAND) held a round table on Friday, September 19th at the state Capitol. Panelists included Senator Ellis, Representative Sarah Davis (House sponsor of SB414), Higher Education Commissioner Parades, Cesar Maldonado, Chancellor of the Houston Community College System, Joe May, Chancellor of the Dallas County Community College District, Rey Garcia, President of TACC, and Susan Brown of the Coordinating Board. Discussions centered around the RAND report and how the state might look to expand baccalaureate offerings across the state. Senator Ellis made it clear that he will seek legislation that will allow for the creation of a process for community colleges, that can demonstrate the need, to offer these degrees.

TACC Cooperative Purchasing Network

Cooperative procurement is a proven, effective model for saving taxpayer dollars and a viable alternative to conventional, independent procurement processes.

Contracts awarded by the Texas Community College Cooperative Purchasing Network (TCCCPN) comply with Texas procurement statutes and eliminate the need for your college to go through its own expensive and time-consuming bid or proposal process. Using the cooperative contracts will help your administration become more efficient and reduce administrative overhead.

The TCCCPN has awarded several new contracts this month, including:

Contract #015-14 Indoor and Outdoor Signage has been awarded to Edu-Source, National Signs, and Wellborn Signs. This contract provides signage for use both indoor and outdoor. The suppliers can handle your institution's needs anywhere in the state and have very competitive pricing. The contract covers electronic LED signs, message boards/marquees, outdoor lighted signs, outdoor directional signage, interior wall signage, installation service and repair service. All of the college purchasing offices have been notified of this award but we encourage you to express your support of the use of the TCCCPN contracts whenever practical for your institution. The service fees earned will return to the association for use for the benefit of all members.
