Do any of your programs engage in successful activities specifically to recruit non-traditional students? If so, would you please share? Thanks.

At Trinity Valley we do have one program that has had moderate success in attracting non-traditional students. Each spring we host a "Women in Welding" workshop. The event is held on a Saturday in our Welding lab and meets from 8:00 AM to about 2:00 PM. Lunch is provided. The event is advertised in local media and to area high schools. Typically we have 8 - 12 females participate. The instructor explains that women typically make better welders due to their attention to detail. The instructor discusses careers, wages, safety topics, etc. and then takes them to the shop to demonstrate each device and then let them have hands-on experience cutting metal and welding pieces together.
