House. On Tuesday, June 23, the House voted to abolish a cost-cutting board under ObamaCare, known as the Independent Payment Advisory Board (IPAB), which has drawn criticism from members of both parties. The results are 244-154.
On Tuesday, June 23, the House passed legislation to overhaul toxic chemical safety laws for the first time in decades, in a 398-1 vote. The bill would require the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to review chemicals in products and issue risk management regulations in an expedited manner.
On Wednesday, June 24, the House voted to delay the Environmental Protection Agency’s climate rule for power plants and let state governors opt out of complying. The bill, passed 247-180, is a major blow to the main pillar of President Obama’s effort to reduce the greenhouse gases that cause climate change, although the White House has promised a veto to protect his legacy.
On Thursday, June 25, the House cleared a key piece of President Obama’s trade agenda that had created a crisis just two weeks ago. In a 286-138 vote, the House approved a workers assistance program known as Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) that helps workers who lose their jobs because of increased trade
Senate. On Monday, June 22, the Senate approved a new Transportation Security Administration administrator in the wake of reports that TSA agents failed to find fake bombs and weapons in internal tests at almost all of America's busiest airports. The Senate voted 81-1 on Coast Guard Vice Adm. Peter Neffenger's nomination to take over the embattled agency.
On Wednesday, June 24, the Senate wrapped up its work on a package of trade bills and moved to head to a conference committee with House lawmakers on a trade customs and enforcement bill. Senators passed a motion by a voice vote to go to conference on the issue.
On Wednesday, June 24, the Senate Intelligence Committee unanimously approved the fiscal 2016 Intelligence Authorization Act, advancing the annual policy bill to the chamber floor. The bill outlines policy for the nation’s 16 federal spy agencies, though much of it remains classified.
Administration. On Thursday, June 25, President Obama applauded Congress for passing a package of trade bills vital to his second-term agenda, saying he will sign them “as soon as they reach my desk.” He noted, “This week's votes represent a much-needed win for hardworking American families.”

Health. On Thursday, June 25, the Supreme Court saved the controversial health care law that will define President Barack Obama's administration for generations to come in a 6-3 decision. The ruling holds that the Affordable Care Act authorized federal tax credits for eligible Americans living not only in states with their own exchanges but also in the 34 states with federal marketplaces.

Upcoming Committee Hearings:
There will be a district-work period next week, in addition to a federal holiday, and thus no hearings will be held.
